Clinique 3 Step Skin Care System review

Hi again!
This is my review for the system!

I'm sure if any of you watch youtube gurus online you'll have seen this before. A lot of the larger gurus swear by it.

It's a skin care system made up of a cleanser, exfoliator and moisturizer.
The system is available in 4 "levels" for differing skin types!
1.) Senesitive skin
2.) Combination dry/ normal skin
3.) Combination oily skin
4.) Oily skin

At my time of purchasing i would've said i had pretty good skin. I got the odd spot but it wasn't a problem.
After doing some research and watching reviews i was highly considering buying the system as most reviews claimed to clear up skin (and of course i greedily wanted to get rid of my few spots) but i wasn't fully convinced to go for it until my all time favorite guru, picturesquemakeup, revealed that she loved it as well. Well of course i was sold and skipped off down to Boots to buy a trial pack costing £20. I was matched by the lady as a level 2.
I used it religiously morning and night for a month (how long the tester kit lasted me) and my parents got me the full size cleanser and exfoliator at duty free and i bought a full size moisturizer myself) and i used the full sized bottles for another month, making 2 months total, and here are my thoughts on the products individually and as a whole.

1.) Liquid facial soap. I actually quite like this cleanser and would use it as a back up for if my current cleaner runs out (but won't be repurchasing it after its gone- its too pricey) Some people say its hard to lather and i do agree to a point but once you've got the technique it's easy! It even smells fairly pleasant.
2.) Exfoliator. What a load of crap this product is. They claim it to be a daily exfoliator, but its more like a toner. If it was marketed as a toner i'd be slightly more satisfied but as an exfoliator it does nothing. Nada. Now i can always tell how good an exfoliator is because of my skin. I get these tiny bumps- that you can feel but can't see- on my skin and have been told by a make up artist that its just dead skin and if i exfoliate it goes away. Now this it true because they've gone due to the exfoliator i use now. But with the clinique one it was awful! It also has a chemically smell. You know when you first smell something and you expect the smell to get stronger and it does? Thats how the clinique one smells to me except it doesn't get stronger- but still not pleasant!
3.) Moisturizing lotion- This once again is rubbish and made my skin really greasy. Lots of people rave about it but i hated it.

Overall: As a system that's supposed to work together i wasn't that impressed. Out of the 2 months i used it my skin was nice for about 2 days. I truly believe it's what's made my skin oily and spot-prone like it is now. I don't know why i didn't stop sooner, in the end it was my mum getting me some free samples of the skin care stuff i use now that got me to switch, but i was so convinced by all these youtubers that it was going to work for me like it did for them. All the reviews i saw/ read said it takes a month to kick in so i was lenient. But now that i've switched and my skin's getting better i can see that the Clinique 3 Step System is over priced, over rated and not worth it! (At least for my skin it isn't)

*OK rant over!*

  2. Well before i used it it was combination/ dry. now its oily!

I think it would be good as a system if you've not got any problems with spots but i think that those of us who do (or certainly me at least) need something a lot more specific towards that! So it depends on your skin really!

I'm glad i tried it else i'd always wonder and the trial pack was a good buy- but i'll be giving my bigger bottles to my cousin who loves it!

  4. yeh true its good you tried and tested it, now your curiosity is done and over with lol! with me, I just have dry flaky skin esp on my forehead and cheeks.. no matter how much i expfoliate its still dry, no creams or lotions in the world ever work! its the same all year round, but apart from that i dont ever get spots or anything else, just the dry skin problem.
