HOTD for a local gig!

So this is how i'm wearing my hair tonight! i'm going to a local gig with a few friends to some acousticy electronic bands- should be fun!

Its just a really simple case of...
1.) Straighten you hair (don't forget heat protectant!)
2.) tie a silk scarf in your hair and position it where you want to!
3.) Tie your hair into a simple side ponytail
4.) Let the loose strands fall out round the sides of your face for "decoration"

Hope you enjoyed!

Beauty Look I'm Loving Right Now # 1

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the first post in my "Looks i'm loving right now" series! There's no timescale for these (i.e one a week etc) but i thought it'd be fun to share with you guys any looks i create that i really like!

So the first one was inspired by missglamorazzi's latest video on youtube-
url here :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE0sgDGO1Sw

and also by my lovely fellow blogger katt - http://flyawaywithmexoxo-mynewlife.blogspot.com/
Here's me being silly ^^^

So its a REALLY simple look! consisting of a classic green washed out lid (tip gained from the video) and a toned down berry lip (tip gained from katt-aka flyawaywithmexoxo)

1.) Place bare study paint pot by MAC all over your lid.
2.) Use an eyeshadow brush (i use a MAC 213 brush) to place a green shadow (i use Urban Decay's shadow in "Vert") over the lid up to and including the crease. The bare study acts as a lovely base for the shadow to stick to as well as toning down the colour to make it more wearable for everyday!
3.) Use a blending brush (i use a MAC 217) to blend out the harsh edges of the green.
4.) Use a liquid eyeliner (i use maybelline define a lash liquid eyeliner) do draw a THIN line on your upper lash line.
5.) Curl your lashes and apply your favourite mascara (i use bourjois maxi frange waterproof- mentioned in my July Favourites post!)
6.) Use an eyeliner (i LOVE to use Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in "Zero") to line both your lower and upper waterlines.
7.) Take your lip colour (i used MAC "New York Apple" lipstick- a gorgeous berry frost) and place 2 dots of colour on your lower lip. Use your finger to blend the colour into the rest of your lip to make the lipstick wearable for everyday. Repeat with your upper lip!

Done

No make up?!

Ok so this post is going to be a bit more personal....

Do you guys ever leave the house without make up on? I couldn't.
I've come to the decision that i do hide behind make up a lot- not because i "slap it on" and change what i look like completely, but because i'm so ashamed of my skin and paranoid about my dark circles.
Let me tell you about my skin and why i have to hide behind foundation. I've always had good skin growing up- i never suffered with acne. but in around january of 2010 i started breaking out a lot more and now it won't ever really leave me alone. I feel a bit alienated because all of my friends' skin has improved and got past the spotty stage whereas mine has just reached it. i want to be able to leave the house fresh faced but it's just impossible.
Here's the second reason why. My skin has a LOT of scarring from spots. Even on the odd day where there's no spots around the corners of my mouth and chin (my problem areas) i still have to use foundation. I even once got to the point where i went out with just eye make up and no foundation to buy a fathers day present for my dad. Here we ran into a family friend (who's male and lacking in tact and subtlety) and he even said "i can tell you're stressed. Look at those zits!" When in reality all he was looking at was the scarring. which in all honesty has set me back even further.

I hope today that will all change.
Recently in the past month or so i have been getting closer to a certain boy and it looks like we may have a potential future. Due to circumstances beyond our control skype is the only way we can talk face to face. We tend to skype late at night. Yet last night he wanted to skype after i'd got ready for bed (i.e taken make up off and washed face) now i'd have been happy (ok fine not happy, but willing) to let him see me make up less but once i wash my face its all over. So last night he went on camera but i wouldn't. Now tonight i promised he could see me without make up (after i've taken it off but before i wash my face ofc)
This may not seem a big deal but given that i'm an only child whose parents have only recently given permission for boyfriends to stay over no guy has ever seen me without make up. And i'm a little nervous...

Sorry for the ramble but if i can't be honest here where can i be?

So what's your guys' opinion on going bare faced for a boy and going out in public? Are you like me? Help and comments appreciated!

Would you rather *Beauty Edition* Round 1

So this tag has been circulating the youtube beauty guru community. There are 2 rounds so i thought i'd keep them separate rather than just combining them so that you'll see round to later!

If you'd like to do this tag too feel free! I'd love to see your responses- but katt i'm particularly keen to see yours! :-)

So here we go :-)

1.Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up or Nice hair and no make-up?

Messy hair and nice make up! I can't leave the house bare faced! Plus messy hair can look cute :-)

2.Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?

This one is quite tricky. Because i could easily stick false eyelashes on... but i'd have to go with shaving my eyebrows as i have a fringe that easily could cover up my no eyebrows!

3.Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?

Well we don't have a sephora in the UK so i don't know what i'm missing out on. If i'm still allowed to shop at other places like boots and john lewis then i'll take MAC over Sephora. But this may change after i visit Sephora in Dubai after this month!

4.Would you rather wear lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?

I was struggling with this one until i tried out the lipgloss/liner look. I look like pete burns/ drag queen. So i'm going with the 80's perm. i'd flatten it under a hat anyway!

5.Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?

Hmmm... i guess overdone blush. With the colour i use it wouldn't look as bad and my cheeks are rosy anyways so people would be more likely to be accepting.

6.Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?

After googling both i'm stuck. The MC hammer pants probably. They're more "in" right now

7.Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?

Tan lines. The orange look scares me!

8.Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?

Erm.. a bad hair colour is easier to fix more quickly so if i don't have to keep it long (i.e longer than 24 hours) then i'll go for the colour. The cut i could just tie up but the colour i could fix with some dye in 10 mins!

9.Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?

Twitter! youtube is amazing!

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?

if i'm allowed eyelash curlers then i'll give up mascara as the effect on me is similar enough! i couldn't put on foundation with my fingers or using sponges!

July Favourites!

Hi Guys,

Wow this month has flown by! i can't believe its been a month since exams ended! I'm having the best summer so far that i've ever had! Being able to drive makes it so easy to go wherever, whenever :-)

These are my July favourites! Just some products i've really appreciated using during July. I do have a couple more which i love enough to dedicate a whole post to which will follow later!

Bourjois Maxi Frange Waterproof Mascara in "Noir Volcanique"

I've had this mascara for a few years and though it probably needs to be thrown out i just can't bring myself to! It's honestly amazing- it might just be this individual one as the non-waterproof version is clumpy and crap but we shall see when i repurchase it- Not only does it give my lashes incredible definition and length but its really unique in its formula. On contact with water it stays put! Or at worst pieces flake off rather than run, which makes it easy to wipe off!

Vaseline Rosy Lips

I bought this from my work place a while ago when it first came out but only recently fell in love! It's very moisturising, cheap and gives a beautiful colour to my lips. In my opinion it is half way between a lip balm and a lip gloss (more pigmented and noticeable than a lip balm but not as sticky as gloss) I think it just enhances the natural colour of your lips rather than just adding colour of its own! I love that i can wear it during the day and night!

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NW15

I bought this last year but had to switch away as it turned out to be the wrong colour and i also switched to MAC Studio Fix Fluid (which i have now switched away from FYI) but on returning a little tanned from my holiday to Greece i realised this now matches me perfectly so leapt upon the opportunity to use it again! For me its a little to heavy for every day whole face use so i use it as extra coverage on my problem areas where i have spots and blemishes i.e my T-zone. For the rest of my face i use my newest foundation love (blog post to follow) but the studio sculpt gives a flawless finish!

Barry M nail paint in 308 Pale Purple

As someone who is constantly changing nail colours its odd for me to stick to one but i've just always reached for this one during July. The formulation is thick with a great colour payoff! And its also really cheap! This is definitely my summer nail varnish- i mean it, my nails have been this colour all through july which for me is very rare! So into the favourites it must go!

Hope you enjoyed my first post in wayyy to long!
Much love
